Bubbles are a platforming mechanic found in Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, mainly in Shovel of Hope, Specter of Torment and King of Cards. If a knight touches the bubble, he loses half of a health point (1 Health Heart in King of Cards). Bubbles take one hit to be destroyed, with the exception of Co-op Mode, where they can take two hits to accommodate the presence of the second player. In most of the campaigns, the knights use their signature moves on them to proceed:
- In Shovel of Hope, Shovel Knight uses the Shovel Drop.
- In Plague of Shadows, due to the nature of Plague Knight's playstyle, bubbles are useless and mostly a hazard to the knight.
- In Specter of Torment, Specter Knight uses the Dash Slash.
- In King of Cards, King Knight uses the Shoulder Bash and subsequent spin.
In Showdown, empty Bubbles can occasionally appear as an obstacle, but much more frequently they usually contain items, such as the various Powerup Items, or the two types of Bombs.
In Shovel Knight Dig, Bubbles appear as obstacles in the Secret Fountain. They can contain various things, from enemies, to bombs, to a handful of water, which can sometimes used to solve puzzles.
Trivia[]
- Despite being inanimate, empty bubbles are considered enemies — the Judgment Rush will target them, and any cheat codes affecting enemies will also affect bubbles.
