Cheat Codes (Treasure Trove)

Cheat codes are special codes that alter the gameplay of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove in various ways. Some alterations are minor, such as simply changing a color palette, while others are in major ways, such as altering animations, sprites, or even dialogue.

There are 406 standard cheat codes available, some of which are exclusive to specific campaigns, and 4 nonstandard input-based cheat codes. The standard cheat codes are activated on the profile naming screen, while the few unique input-based ones are inputted on specific screens, such as the title screens of Treasure Trove and Showdown.

Cheat Database

On April 29, 2020, Yacht Club Games released an official list of cheat codes called the "Cheat Database", which contains 397 of the 406 standard Treasure Trove cheat codes. The official list excludes "C&KEEPM", which was added in a hotfix patch on April 29, 2020, and it excludes the 8 codes released in collaboration with Arby's.

Line 177 on the official list is blank because it refers to an unimplemented cheat. The official list contains an error, as it is missing a "Feats allowed" checkmark for the "C&PUKE" (Stalwart Stomach) cheat.

Activation

The majority of cheat codes are only activated after entering the correct sequence of letters as the name of a profile. This will allow a second naming for the profile after the code is entered. Once activated, a cheat code will remain active permanently for that given profile, indicated by a teal pumpkin symbol that appears to the lower-left corner of the character's profile icon. Only one code can be activated per file, and the only way to remove the cheat code from a file is to delete the file itself.

Feats

Most, but not all, cheat codes deactivate the ability to earn Feats. For the most part, cheat codes that do not directly alter the gameplay, such as color palette swaps, do not interfere with earning Feats for that file, but there are some purely cosmetic cheats that disable Feats anyways, such as "T&DRNC" (Troupple Par-Tay Rap), "CP&1HR" (Pal Combo 1), "CP&HJ2" (Pal Combo 2), "CP&3P3" (Pal Combo 3), "CP&1234" (Pal Combo 4), and the cosmetic-related Arby's cheats.

Prior to Version 4.00, all cheat codes prevented Feats, as well as Co-op Mode in Shovel of Hope.

Single Effect

There are 222 "Single Effect" cheat codes.

IM&SGC14	Iron Man 2014 Mode Enables a custom challenge used in the SGC 2014 event (held by ScrewAttack). It creates a special file of Shovel Knight, which has all relics, 6 Health, 60 Magic, Dynamo Mail, and Trench Blade. The player always starts at the first checkpoint of Lost City (said checkpoint becomes unbreakable), and is required to complete the level in 3 minutes. All random factors do not work (i.e., digging a specific pile always yields same outcome, and fishing does not take extra time). At the end of challenge, whether the player beats Mole Knight or not, the total gold collected is shown as the result. D&DEMO	Demo Mode Takes the player to a secret demo menu where the player can play E3-esque demos of each campaign in the following settings: "Default (All Campaigns in Treasure Trove)" "Shovel of Hope" "Co-op" "Plague of Shadows" "Specter of Torment" "King of Cards" "House of Joustus" "Showdown" The player can use the Subweapon Quick Select buttons to change language, and the subweapon attack button to set the game time limit to 8 minutes or unlimited. Once the player selects a demo, they can go back to the menu by holding the Left Subweapon Quick Select Button and the Inventory Button on the title screen; however, there is no way to exit the demo menu itself without restarting the game. In each campaign demo, the player can only play one of the first couple of levels, but once they clear a level, or, for the Joustus House's case, beat Black Knight, the demo ends, and the "Thank You for Playing" screen appears. If the timer is set to unlimited, then the player can "Engrave Thy Name" and be shown on a demo ranking board for the stage that will be reset once they reset the game; however, this doesn't apply to House of Joustus or Showdown. Also, the pause screens are now just a single text string with the word "PAUSE". Pressing the inventory button on that screen will take the player back to the title screen. In the Showdown, they cannot change the battle settings, and only real players can play, but for some strange reason, on the Wii U, they cannot go back to the demo menu, no matter if they're using the correct button combination or not. Arby's "DLC"

In May of 2021, Yacht Club Games collaborated with the chain of sandwich fast-food restaurants Arby's to create new content for Treasure Trove. This includes unique features across the four main campaigns, which can be activated using external cheat codes. These 7 codes, originally engraved on character-themed launcher tokens that were given with Arby's Kids Meals, change various game elements into fast-food related counterparts. There is a secret 8th code capable of simultaneously unlocking all the effects of the other seven at the same time.

These cheats only work on the Steam, Humble Bundle, GOG.com, and Nintendo Switch versions. These cheats disable Feats, despite most of them being purely cosmetic.

The defunct code that once allowed the player to unlock Plague of Shadows early.

• Originally Showdown's "Unlock All Content (Temporary)" code had another use: since in its initial release, Plague of Shadows could only be played once clearing Shovel of Hope first, the code was an alternative to unlock the second campaign immediately. However, it has since become obsolete and inactive, since each campaign is selectable from the starting screen with the rebranding of the original release as Treasure Trove. The unlock criteria was, from the title screen, hold [ATTACK], input Up, Up, Right, Down, Left, Left, then release [ATTACK].
