Dirt Blocks are one of the most common obstacle found in Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, and Shovel Knight Dig that the protagonist must clear to progress.
In Treasure Trove, Dirt Blocks can appear in various sizes, specifically as either a 1x1, 2x1, 2x2, 3x2, or 3x3 block with yellow/gold color. It requires only 1 strike to clear, and Shovel Dropping on it will cause Shovel Knight to bounce.
In the Tower of Fate levels, all dirt blocks is replaced with a light-purple block which also behaves identically to regular dirt block.
During the boss fights against The Enchantress in Shovel of Hope, Plague of Shadows, and Specter of Torment, she summons small purple (blue in SoT) dirt blocks which she can set on fire with her attacks.
In Challenge Mode, specifically in Shovel Knight Amiibo Co-op challenges, a special kind of dirt block is introduced, one that is completely indestructible unless striked from one specific angle, often requiring coordination between the two knights in order to reach the spot and open a path forward.
In Pocket Dungeon, Dirt Blocks are still the weakest type of obstacles, with only 1HP.
Trivia[]
- Dirt Blocks used in Shovel Knight Amiibo Co-op Challenges reuse textures of the unused "obsidian" block.
