Enemies

Majority of enemies found in Treasure Trove.

Enemies are the hostile creatures who seek to impede the protagonists in Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon and Shovel Knight Dig.

Categories[]

Enemies can be broken down into four categories:

  • Minor enemies are the most common enemies with most them having only a few hit points
  • Major enemies are more significant; often having a larger number of hit points, reduced damage from secondary weapons and vulnerable only on specific sides.
  • Mini-Bosses typically have even more hit points than Major enemies and must be defeated in order to progress through a stage.
  • Bosses are fought at the end of each stage or on their own as encounters. Each Boss has the full twenty hit points except for the first boss in the Plains.

Naming[]

Treasure Trove[]

With the exception of bosses, only very few enemy names were originally revealed in-game in Shovel Hope, until a complete list of said names was revealed by the developers on their official website.[1] A second list was made for the introduction of new enemies in Specter of Torment.[2] In King of Cards, the card game Joustus was introduced, and as the game include cards representing every single enemy of Treasure Trove, it creates a reliable in-game source for the names of these creatures.

Spin-Offs[]

In Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, the Puzzle Guidebook provides a handy bestiary, with both the names and the basic stats for both minor, major enemies and even bosses. In Shovel Knight Dig, the list of minor and major enemies was introduced with the Compendium in the Fate and Fortune update. The only exception to this list are bosses, including the game's final boss which has yet to be named.
