When King Knight first attempts to use the Rat Rope outside of the House of Joustus, Cooper and the Bard approach him offering him a partnership to claim the Joustus crown. King Knight accepts, and the three use the rat rope that leads them aboard the Glidewing, Cooper's airship. After Cooper welcomes King Knight, he can climb to the upper levels of the Glidewing, where he'll find Gouache.
When King Knight approaches him, Gouache says he and the Bard find the Glidewing inspiring, so he is there taking commissions to paint portraits of people. However, he claims he needs painting materials, and requests 1,500 from King Knight in order to buy his materials. If King Knight accepts and gives him the gold, he will begin painting the portrait.
King Knight can then ask Gouache to improve it, costing more gold per revision. After finally completing the third revision, King Knight can ask Gouache to change it back to the other revisions for an additional 1,000. After changing the painting for the third time, Gouache will be fed up, vandalize the painting and leave.
King Knight can't obtain any revisions or vandalization in NG+, where Gouache will ask how is the result and King Knight will be satisfied of his new portrait.
At the ending, Gouache is seen painting the portraits of the Hall of Champions while the place is invaded by Invisishades.
"Gouache:Oh, hey.. the Bard and I, we find this place inspiring. That's why I'm up here, taking commissions! But, materials! I'd need 1500 gold to create your likeness. Should be quick!"
