Shovel Knight Original Soundtrack is the official score of Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope, composed by Jake "Virt" Kaufman and Manami Matsumae.

Production[]

Of the 48 tracks within the album, 2 were composed by Manami Matsumae, known for her work on the music and sound effects of the Megaman game series.

The complete digital album was first released on June 27, 2014, on Kaufman's Bandcamp page to be downloaded at any price,[1] and on December 24 on Steam as a $10 DLC.[2] A physical two-vinyls and disc edition titled Shovel Knight The Definitive Soundtrack was published by Matsumae's music label Brave Wave in October 2016.[3]

Trivia[]

  • 46 of the 48 tracks can be collected as Music Sheets and played by the Bard in the Village. They can also be unlocked in Sound Test in the game's menu after completing the campaign once.
  • Most of the music in this album were reused in the other campaigns and as such are not featured again on the other albums.
  • The exclusive tracks composed by Kaufman for the guest boss battles are not included in the album. These tracks include The Blades Of Chaos for Kratos and Meet the Toads, The Wookie Hole, To the Turbo Tunnel, Battle the Battletoads and Pause for Battletoads.
  • For Shovelry! and Fighting Spirit cannot be played by the Bard or in Sound Test mode.
  • The Definitive Edition contains an additional booklet featuring composer interviews and exclusive artwork by Pokemon and Mega Man illustrator Hitoshi Ariga.[3] This edition is also available in disc format.
