“ | Drop half as much gold when you fall in battle! | ” |
The Final Guard is the cheapest Armor Shovel Knight can buy, costing only 3000 gold. Fittingly its function is to reduce the amount of gold lost on death from 25% to 12%, making it great to preserve money in case of multiple deaths.
On the other hand, since the benefit of this Armor solely depends on Shovel Knight ability to die or not and the chance to retrieve his lost treasure, advanced players may find it offers little practical use. Furthermore, once all other expenses have been fulfilled, gold become of little to no use unless trying to achieve the Order of Hoarders Feat, rendering the Final Guard's benefits redundant.
While in Pocket Dungeon the Final Guard is not present, Shovel Knight can purchase its exact same color palette from Myriad.
In Dig, the Final Guard returns as one of the purchasable armors. Winning a run down The Well with the Final Guard equipped will reward the Memento Final Guard Helm, found placed on the shelves of Hoofman's shop.
Trivia[]
- Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight all have their own versions of the Final Guard, in the form of the Treasure Trappings, the Cloak of Clemency, and the Rodent Regalia respectively, although those three armors also have additional effects.
