Goo is a game mechanic in Treasure Trove found primarily in the Lost City. Appearing as orbs of neon green jelly that drip from the ceiling, Goo blobs will change any lava pool it touches to be temporarily harmless and bouncy. Goo blobs can be knocked around by hitting from the side, but will burst if Shovel Dropped, Spinned on, or just jumped on. If a fiery Blazorb touches a Goo blob, it will turn back into a normal Blorb.

If one jumps on a Goo blob, they will bounce off much higher than with a regular jump; this will also break the blob for good, causing another to spawn.

The trademark bulbous sac on the backs of Big Bohtos appears to be made of or full of Goo, as it shares the same color and bouncy properties.

It is revealed in Specter of Torment that Goo is a byproduct of the mushrooms which reside above the subterranean city. Both in Specter of Torment and King of Cards, Mole Knight takes advantage to the bouncy proprieties of Goo during his boss fights. Goo is also the central feature of one of the Showdown stages, Lost City - Goo Gorge.

Variants[]

Slime Blocks[]

These large green blocks will bounce off anyone jumping on it and break at the same time. If one strikes at it from side, the striker will be pushed back. Some Slime Blocks will contain Birders which will be freed when the block is broken.

Goo Lanterns[]

While they can be Dash Slashed like normal lantern, these green lanterns will bounce Specter Knight back to the same side, instead of letting him move to the other side. A regular Lantern can be turned into a goo lamp by dropping a goo blob on it.

Goo Targets[]

Exclusive of Percy's Targets, Goo Targets behave virtually identical to a Goo Lantern, pushing in the opposite direction any fighter who melee-hitted them. If struck by a projectile, the Goo Target will stop it on its tracks, even if normally the projectile would pierce through any other mark.
