Guards are minor characters introduced in Shovel Knight Dig. They patrol the Surface campsite, being annoyed to various degrees with the whole situation around Hexcavators and The Well.
Appearance[]
There are three distinct individuals, each clad with an armor of a different color (iron, bronze, and gold). The mustached, golden-clad one appears to be their captain and is revealed to be bald under his helmet. A second iron guard shows up in the game's ending.

Dig[]
At the end of Shovel Knight Dig, the guard captain locks a shackled Drill Knight in a cell while two normal guards keep watch. As the captain climbs down the stairs to the cell, Drill Knight breaks free of his bindings and proceed to punch a hole in the prison's wall, shaking it down and sending the captain's helmet flying. The mastermind thief escapes while the guards recover from the tremor and their captain, enraged, order them around to recapture the felon knight.
