Shovel Knight Wiki

Magic Landfill is one of the dungeons in Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon and one of the worlds in Shovel Knight Dig

Description[]

The Magic Landfill is part of the third layer of the Well. It is an underground rubbish heap of magical artifacts. These discarded items of magic have created all sorts of magical hazards like voracious animated books and cauldrons, generated Warp Walls. As such, navigation within the landfill is perilous.

In Shovel Knight Dig, Scrap Knight claimed the place and its content, and guards it for the Hexcavators. Before her part of the plan, she passed her time sorting its various items in search for worthy valuables to sell and truly special stuff to keep. It is infested with Floorbs, Wizzems practicing three sorts of elemental magic and even Divedrakes.

An illusory copy of this area was created inside the Pocket Dungeon due to Scrap Knight's own presence influencing the puzzle box.

In Pocket Dungeon[]

The Magic Landfill is the fourth stage encountered in a run of Pocket Dungeon. Once it is reached naturally for the first time, a shortcut for Percy's cannon can be purchased for 12,000 Gems.

The only two traditional enemies that spawn in this stage are the teleporting Wizzems and the double-damaging Floorbs. In addition, Ratsploder obstacles spawn like normal enemies, and as such this stage is one of only three to prominently feature Bomb Blocks; in some instances, the stage's farthest walls may even initially spawn totally filled in with Bomb Blocks. In the Legendary Path, the Spell Spinner is added as a mini-boss, which attempts to slam the player any time it is uplifted by an explosion. Page Snapper obstacles are also added as unit spawns; every time a Page Snapper is destroyed by direct contact, it spits out another unit- such as a Potion or naturally-spawning enemy- somewhere else on the stage. The Legendary Path also adds a Warp Well mechanic that warps every unit on the bottom row up to the top.

If a boss is added to the Magic Landfill, such as with a Hat, the boss will be Scrap Knight. When fighting Scrap Knight herself, her boss arena version of the Magic Landfill is the only boss arena to feature its own unique hazard; the left and right walls will slowly fill up with the same crushing walls that normally descend from the top of the screen when a player lingers in a stage for too long, simulating the appearance of a garbage compactor unit.
