Platforms are an element found in every stage in Shovel Knight. Jumping on platforms above spikes and pits is a major gameplay challenge. This mechanic is what gives the "platforming" genre its name. Platforms can be either moving or stationary and occasionally have other effects such as being slippery or falling away when the player steps on them.
Platforms usually can't be Shovel Dropped; Shovel Knight will simply land without bouncing. But in the Explodatorium some platforms can be Shovel Dropped.
