Shovel Knight Original Soundtrack is the official score of Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope, composed by Jake "Virt" Kaufman and Manami Matsumae.
Production[]
Of the 48 tracks within the album, 2 were composed by Manami Matsumae, known for her work on the music and sound effects of the Mega Man game series.
The soundtrack was arranged in Famitracker using VRC6 expansion audio most notably used in the Japanese version of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Jake Kaufman had previously used VRC6 in the alternate soundtrack of BloodRayne: Betrayal. Matsumae also had composed for VRC6-based game Esper Dream 2 in 1992.
The complete digital album was first released on June 27, 2014, on Kaufman's Bandcamp page to be downloaded at any price,[1] and on December 24 on Steam as a $10 DLC.[2] A physical two-vinyls and disc edition titled Shovel Knight The Definitive Soundtrack was published by Matsumae's music label Brave Wave in October 2016.[3]
