Shuffle Knight is a character used to represent the random character option for every stage of a run in Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon. His counterpart is Random Knight.
Appearance[]
Shuffle Knight appears as a knight in complete purple armor similar to Random Knight, but with an inverted question mark for a face and a thicker, more unruly helmet plume. Sometimes a blue, yellow, green, and white parrot named Souffle is perched upon him.
Story[]
Pocket Dungeon[]
In Pocket Dungeon, Shuffle Knight appears in the Camp after unlocking 10 knights. He can be seen standing in the Table Room with the parrot Souffle perched on his head. Selecting the knight makes the bird fly away.
If the ice block in the Hangout room is hit with Random Knight, he will always sculpt it into other playable characters with an inverted question mark where their faces should be.
Abilities[]
Shuffle Knight's main specialty is the ability of, when starting a run of the Pocket Dungeon, changing randomly into one of the other playable knights already unlocked at the start of every stage. This shapeshifting ability is disabled when wearing the Souffle Hat, making Shuffle Knight a completely ordinary knight with no special abilities whatsoever. The Souffle Hat disables his standard shapeshifting abilities during dungeon runs, Quandaries, and in Mona's game, making it possible to register a record in them as Shuffle Knight himself. A similar event occurs if Random Knight is equipped with the Almond Hat, but with the added perk that Random Knight is now able to embark on personal Quandaries.
While playing Mona's minigame, normally Shuffle Knight shifts into a new knight after each of the rounds against common enemies, but when he attempts the minigame with the Souffle Hat equipped, as he is prevented to transform, he will instead face against weaker versions of the other playable knights.
Unlike Random Knight, Shuffle Knight has from the start access to personal Quandaries, and even a Refract Ability of his own, Serum Shifter, which disables his normal shapeshifting ability in favor of a more potent one, which lets him transform into a different knight each time a Potion or Turkey is consumed.

Trivia[]
- Shuffle Knight was added to Pocket Dungeon with Version 1.1.0.[2] He was previously teased during the January 2022 Yacht Club Games Presents.[3]
- Unlike other asymmetrical characters with the exception of Random Knight, Shuffle Knight has two sets of sprites for his model so that his question mark never appears backward.
