“ | Wait! Stay thy fork, knight! I bring gifts from the Troupple King! | ” |
— Troupple, Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope |
Troupples are a species of sentient fish and minor characters in Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. They are led by the Troupple King and can usually be found at the Troupple Pond, accompanying their monarch's dances. They are also one of the possible follow pets that can be hatched from Eggs in Shovel Knight Dig.
Appearance[]
Troupples have the body of an apple with a stem and a leaf on it, but with the head and tail of a trout.
Story[]
Shovel of Hope[]
In Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope, Troupples can be found in the main stages, when fishing in a sparkling pit. They will fill an empty Troupple Chalice with a specific Ichor (depending on the location) and disappear. However, if all chalices are already filled, they will instead hop back to the pit, and can be fished again.
Plague of Shadows[]
In Plague of Shadows, Troupples only appear at the Troupple Pond and dance with the Troupple King. They do not interact with Plague Knight.
King of Cards[]
In King of Cards, King Knight can use the Decree of Rejuvenation to summon a friendly, winged Troupple that heals him via kissing him.
During the campaign's ending, two Troupples can be seen underneath some Leaf Blocks in the Troupple Pond.
Behavior and Tactics[]
In King of Cards, Troupples appear as enemies in the Royal Pond. They attack King Knight by jumping out of the water and can move by sliding on land as well. Should they stop moving on the land, they pick up speed again by jumping. They also appear during the boss fight with the Troupple King in the same stage.
In Shovel Knight Showdown, dozens of Troupples appear during the Troupple King's dance in the stage Troupple Grotto - Royal Pond, serving as a stage hazard. Defeating 50 of these Troupples during a match will reward the feat Troupple Tango.
Variants[]
Golden Troupple[]
In King of Cards, one of the Grand Triumvirate's attacks summons golden Troupples that explode when they hit King Knight or a wall.
Joustus Card[]
One of the Joustus cards in King of Cards is a Troupple card which has 2 Bomb Arrows facing left and down.
