Walter is a character introduced in Shovel Knight Dig. He is a postman in charge of the Leaderboards. He delivers any new record to the world by way of his faithful carrier pigeon.

Appearance

Walter is a short man in a uniform. His tall hat doubles as a perch and a dovecote for his carrier pigeon.

Personality

Walter takes his role of maintaining the leaderboards very seriously.

Story

Dig

Walter is in charge of the leaderboard, where the player can look how they are doing in contrast to other players or where they can enter daily/weekly runs.

Every time Shovel Knight ends a daily or weekly run, his pigeon goes fetch it on a scroll from Walter's hat and takes flight. After Shovel Knight emerges victorious from the Well, he salutes him tearfully.

I'll show you how the other diggers compare to you online. You can even enter yourself in the daily or weekly competitions! The rules are simple: you'll reach the top of the online leaderboard if you get the most gems before you fall in battle." Talked to "Walter: Oh, don't mind me, just tracking all the tiny critical details. Wanna check the leaderboards or enter a competition?" Show leaderboards "Walter: Want to have a look at the leaderboard?" Daily run "Walter: Are you ready for the daily run? You can only submit your gem haul once per day." Weekly run "Walter: Are you ready for the weekly run? You can submit your gem haul as many times as you like." Starting a weekly or daily run "Walter: Smashing! Down the well with you, then. Grab as many gems as you're able. Fall in battle, and the run's over.... Understood?" Starting a daily run a second time in a day "Walter: Hold up.
